Often residents will message me or tag me in posts with ideas they have for events they would like to see in the city. As often as I can I encourage these residents to host them themselves, but in the cases where they don’t take off with a good idea, we will pick up the slack. This summer (2021) we hosted 2 extremely successful community kickball events, used to promote a candidate I have been mentoring for local office, Quinn Wright. This campaign opportunity did not seek to raise funds, instead, focused on the connection to our neighbors within the community. Adults and children of all ages joined us for the fun. Here we showed that we can take the pressure off of candidates to raise the most funds, and instead raise community awareness, and engage them to participate in the process. Events like these have been very successful in getting younger families, with and without children to get out and vote.
